POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting the coach with daily practice preparation and training, on the field coaching, recruiting prospective student-athletes and scouting opponents. This position is expected to communicate and develop a rapport with student-athletes, faculty/staff and alumni. The Assistant Soccer Coach is also responsible for assisting with facilities, home game management and/or equipment room responsibilities during the academic year.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Head Coach with oversight of the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) soccer program, including coaching, team meetings and overall organization of the team.
- Attend informational interest meetings at the beginning of each season.
- Assist the Head Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting tryouts.
- Coordinate skill development and assist the Head Coach with designing coaching strategies which prepare the team for competition.
- Mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth.
- Foster a culture of positivity, support, and confidence.
- Manage the safety, health and conduct of players during team meetings, practices and games.
- Serve in the Head Coach role, in the absence of the Head Coach for any game or practice.
- Assist the Head Coach with the planning, organization, and supervision of practice per week during the season.
- Travel with the team for all away contests, typically on the weekends. Drive a 14-passenger mini-bus, if necessary.
- Assist the Athletics Department with game day management.
- Assist with the maintenance and inventory of sports equipment and supplies, including uniform disbursement and collection.
- Identify, recruit, and retain current students, as well as incoming and prospective students.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year as a previous soccer assistant coach at the high school and/or college level or two (2) to four (4) years as a college level soccer athlete.
Licenses / Certifications:
- First Aid/Adult CPR/AED.
- Valid Driver’s License.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.

- Regular work requires a great deal of standing for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend, stoop, or reach as needed.
