Scout - Contractor

The San Jose Earthquakes are looking to outsource a portion of the scouting department’s work to support First Team recruitment efforts. We are seeking a contract scout to identify and evaluate talent, gather and process relevant information, and deliver insights that will support the club’s decision-making.

Scope of Work:

The contracted scout will be responsible for:

·       Scouting relevant leagues and players

·       Identifying and proposing player targets that align with the club’s current and future needs

Tools & Methods

To fulfill these responsibilities, the scout may utilize various resources and methods, including but not limited to:

·       Watching and analyzing player video

·       Engaging with agents and contacts within their professional network

·       Collaborating with the club’s internal scouting team

Workflow & Deliverables

The scout will be expected to develop an organized, independent workflow to deliver information clearly and in a timely manner. This may include:

·       Writing detailed scouting reports

·       Producing video clips and analysis

·       Organizing and categorizing players into shortlists and/or shadow teams

Additional Expectations:

·       Must have at least 5+ years of professional scouting experience.

·       May be asked to attend live matches, tournaments, combines, or conferences as needed

Terms:

·       Compensation and scope of engagement to be discussed during the hiring process

·       This is a fully remote contract role that is not intended to be performed within the state of California. Candidates must be based outside of California to be considered.
