Job Description

PLACEMENT TITLE:  Academy PDP Coach (Placement)

DEPARTMENT: Coaching

REPORTS TO:  Academy Manager

LOCATION: Stanley Park Sports Ground / Thornbury Surfacing Stadium, additional travel may be required

HOURS:  Full Time - Monday - Friday (July 2025 - May 2026)

SALARY:  £500 per month expenses

Chippenham Town FC are now looking to recruit an Academy Coach who will have a minimum of a FA Level 2/UEFA C qualification, with an B License desirable (or working towards).  They will be able to demonstrate a knowledge and passion for player development, possession based football and high pressing - able to demonstrate an understanding of roles and responsibilities of players.

Working alongside our experienced coaching staff, you will learn, support and lead sessions with our U17 - B team groups while receiving a comprehensive coaching CPD plan to help aid your development.  This exciting role is an important part to the clubs vision of creating a core of Academy based players within the first team and would provide a fantastic platform to showcase the successful candidates knowledge, delivery and potential.

Job Description 

To design, develop, lead and evaluate the technical/tactical sessions for Academy players (U17 - B Team) while meeting their physical needs through successful collaboration with the Lead Strength and Conditioning coach.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead in the Delivery of technical and tactical sessions to a range of abilities and understanding following the Academies syllabus.
  • Working with the S & C department - Plan and coach warm up sessions that include a speed, agility or plyometric elements.
  • Lead match day teams and organisation in line with the Academies fixture list.
  • Provide regular oral and written reports at appropriate meetings associated with the Sports Science support. 
  • Initiate and contribute to special projects that are part of the wider development of the  coaching department at the Academy.
  • Plan, develop and initiate individual technical/tactical programmes for Academy players.
  • To be proactive in creating analysis content to be used with players in a team/individual.

• To report to and work closely with the Lead Physiotherapist, Lead S & C Coach and the Head of Academy.

• To work closely alongside all other Academy staff in support of each players development, as a member of Coaching Team. 

• To ensure positive relationships with players.

Scope of job 

  • This position may include duties outside normal office hours including evenings, weekends and on public holidays.

  • Excellent possession based knowledge and an ability to apply this specifically when communicating with coaches and players.
  • Ability to modify coaching style when delivering practical sessions to different populations.
  • Good practical knowledge of various playing systems both in and out of possession.
  • The ability to apply complex data and terminology to simple terms appropriate to different age groups and audiences.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of relevant modern coaching techniques and how technology can engage our players
